MemberI flew United from San Diego to Denver and United Express from Denver to Great Falls, MT in June. My partner carried a 3 piece rod tube and I carried a Fishpond case with 4 rods and 8 reels. No problems in security or on the planes.
However, the trip took 23 hours. It would have been a 20 hour drive! It was faster to get to Patagonia last year.
I always carry the TSA carryon regs that specifically state that fishing rods, reels and lines are allowed.
We paid $25 each way for our checked bags.
Have a great trip.

MemberI have a Grey Line 3 weight that is magic, and Evotec G3 reels and spools.
The Color Series rods were discontinued 2 years ago. I think that coincided with moving the production from Sweden to Asia. The current rods are coded Multi and Opti.
The Evotec G3 reels are gorgeous and totally silent, a feature I like a lot. No clicking or buzzing.
The Evotec reels come in 3 frame weights, and each weight has a about 3 sized of spools. I have 2 Lightweight (LW) frames and 4 spools that sapn from 2 to 7 weight lines. I’ll soon add a Mediumweight

MemberI have a Pentax W60. It is great. It takes great underwater shots of trout before release.

MemberI just got back from the Argentinian Patagonia. I hope your guides are more receptive than mine of using your flies. And of fishing Pancora imitations. They content that fishing Pancora on the bottom risks too many hang ups.

MemberI was quite surprised, at US Customs in Dallas this week (returning from a Patagonia trip) that they dipped my felt soled boots in a disinfectant, wrapped them in plastic bags and returned them to my duffel.
I appreciate their effort, but I’ll still put the waders and boots in the freezer for a few days after they have a week to dry. Maybe I’ll add the streamers also.
