MemberHeading down for a week of fishing down in Patagonia in Chile. Figured that I would have my last spring break ought to be something special. Leaving tomorrow and staying at a lodge called Estancia del Zorro. Going to be chasing some nice browns, rainbows, and hopefully some big king salmon. Been tying like a mad man the past couple weeks to get ready. Here are some photos of my main box.
Terrestrials.

Streamers.

This is only half of the flies that I am bringing. I tied up some nice looking tube flies, and have a whole box devoted to pancora crab patterns. I think the guides are going crap themselves when they see the amount of flies that I will have. I’m also bringing enough rods to fish one every day.

Always be prepared. I’m bring three 8wt. rods: 12’9″,11′, and a 9′ Two 6wt. and a 5wt. I should have internet access at the lodge, so I will try to post every day if possible.-Mike

MemberHoly Moly!
Those are not fly boxes, they are fly suit cases.
Nice looking stuff for sure.
Have a great trip and please post lots of pictures.Mar 12, 2009 at 1:11 pm #34438regan c. kenyon jr.

MemberI just got back from the Argentinian Patagonia. I hope your guides are more receptive than mine of using your flies. And of fishing Pancora imitations. They content that fishing Pancora on the bottom risks too many hang ups.

Membersounds like a trip of a life time.
i like the fly box before shots. be sure to take pics of those boxes after-showing flies either destroyed by fish or the ones that got lost.on a more random note, don’t forget to watch the toilet flush. goes in the other direction (coriolis effect)

MemberSounds great and can’t wait to get back myself! One thing about Patty that I learned was that people are so friendly, the fish are wild and rarely see anyone, drinking Malbec’s and Pisco’s go hand in hand and you better bring one Huge memory card for tons of pictures…enjoy!
Streamers down there are about 50% black and 50% olive from what I gathered and also caught a few chromers also on some flashy steelhead flies so it’s better to bring more than not enough fo sho 😉
Here was my trip a short time ago

Chad SimcoxMemberWow I’m jealous! I’ve always wanted to fish and trek through Patagonia. I’m sure you’ll have a blast chasing the beast of trout that live in the rivers down there.
I may be making a stop at the Santiago airport in a few weeks on my way to Manaus, but won’t get to explore Chile. I’m still debating on weather or not to try to sneak an 8wt in my backpack. Could be interesting to go after Peacock Bass in the Amazon. Just don’t think I’d have the time to fish in the few days I’ll be down there.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.
