I’m with Jay on the Imperial caps and my go to cap is from the old RJ Cain fly shop in Bozeman, MT. Don’t know why but just has a good fit. Being a graphic designer, I can be pretty vain when it comes to good looking designs — especially when it comes to fly shop logos! Of course I have to say I’m partial the local shop, the Driftless Angler, here in WI because…well…they’re local.
Need to figure out the photo thing so I can share photos sometime…

Hey there. I live in SW Wisconsin with my wife, daughter, and two boys (6, 4, 3). I work for a large organic foods co-op as a graphic designer in their marketing department. I have to say my drive to work everyday is all country driving with much along trout streams — and any backed up traffic is due to milk trucks, school buses, tractors, and Amish buggies!
I’m spoiled with many miles of spring creeks practically at my doorstep but as you can imagine having a three young children keeps life interesting and hopping! Still, I get out weekly either early mornings, evenings after kid’s bedtimes, or find a few hours during the weekend. Main thing is I really do try to not cut into the family time – esp. for the sake of my wife’s sanity! As for destination fishing, that only means heading to Iowa or Illinois when visiting family (and they consider trout bait down there).

I agree more that the color is probably due to what the trout is consuming but has anyone ever heard of the concept that darker browns tend to feed more at night, thus their darker color? This was something I heard a local guide say some years back. I can’t say I’ve ever heard any factual evidence to it though.
