unless you are fishing truly big game, go for multi piece.

I’ve seen two 4 pc tarpon rods exploded at ferrules.

I am curious about the references to the old timer Smokies fishers and what they were doing….

anyone have other info.. I know there are some Smokies folks hereabouts and I have only ever seen references to the techniques they used..

    Hi

Methinks you can’t comment too much:)) since your there doing it:)))

Yep the rod I have been using is a Wonderrod – all I could find at the time that seemed to fit the bill.

    Hi CM – welcome aboard.

Thanks – the flies are done with hackle and are my attempt at mimicing some patterns I saw on a Japanese Tenkara site.

For me most of the takes are on the dropper.

Here is Coachman done in another Tenkara style that I like to use

Btw – I noticed on the Tenkara US site there is a CM Stewart on the forum there – is that you??.

If so….and you feel inclined…I know I would and I bet a few others would as well – love to hear what you think about the rods/lines etc they have going

Graduated ND filters particularly the soft transition ones in 2 and 3 stops ( Singh Ray are very nice) are sooooo hugely usefull as to be almost indespensible. The large size ones 4×6″ can be hand held in front of the lens and moved around for best effect-

A late evening lake view/bug hatch site that used a Grad ND to hold back the sky so the forgeound would get enough exposure..

And a river bug sampling site that used a Grad ND upside down to hold back the foreground so the background would get enough exposure to read properly the sun was setting over

    Steve Hi

The line/ tippet combo is the length of the rod – mine is a 13′

Point is I think Zak’s response seemed awkward and somewhat “angry”. Maybe Zak should have used all-caps.

ZACH runs a tight ship indeed.  But this website wouldnt be what it is without a consistent moderator.  As much as I love poking fun at Zach and his website, I think it’s the best Fly Fishing Forum, hands down. And I think most who have been here for a long time would agree that the reason they’ve stuck around is because of the great place Zach his built this place into.

(Poor guy must hateThe Drake Board!)

That is funny on so many levels.

Zach does run a tight ship. It is a nice forum. Just don’t get his response. A guy was trying to make a light-hearted observation and he gets “called-upon” for his use of type. Zach’s comments really do “sound” like something my mom would have said when I was 9 or 10.

“However, I would appreciate it if you would refrain from using all-caps, especially in titles, as it is considered shouting on the internet.

That is some great art Alan!

Don’t really see a problem with your 1st post and for the life of me I don’t know why anyone would see a problem with it. It’s opinion/observation – it’s done everyday on countless forums and blogs!

All caps. Initial caps. Who cares. Is it “web-speak” for yelling? I don’t know. Is it a “design” foux pas? Never heard heard that. Not sure why an administrator is creative directing his forum members’ posts. (Maybe you should have used a different type face as well? A gothic? Maybe in demi or a book condensed? Maybe a titling font? ) Point is I think Zak’s response seemed awkward and somewhat “angry”. Maybe Zak should have used all-caps. (Poor guy must hate The Drake Board!)
