Michael, I have been to El Pescador for a weeks fishing twice in the past several years. It’s a very nice place and well run. The fishing is generally good but as you know anything can happen. Just based on my experience, Belize is a good place to catch your first permit but not the best for tarpon. I think the tarpon fishing is better in SW Florida and the Keys but like I said that is just based on my experience. You will definitely catch bonefish. Catching bonefish there is like catching bream here in a farm pond, you will probably catch all you want in the first couple of days and will want to target something else. They will probably be small but numerous. If they spook just wait and they will usually circle around again. The guides know the waters but don’t expect the competence or effort you will find in the Keys. For instance, be prepared to cast with any wind direction because positioning the boat may seem like an afterthought to some of the guides. In their defense of that, those pangas are pretty heavy. You should also plan on bringing all the equipment and all flies you might need. Give me a shout if you need anything else.

Great photos Mike. I loved fishing the Ruby. Besides the fish, things that stood out was the disposition of the landowners on parts of it. We entered at the Vigilante access and walked downstream a good ways. We were fishing downstream and met a guy (apparently a guide but not sure) with two other anglers moving upstream. He wanted to know how we got to that part of the river since he apparently had access across private property and couldn’t believe someone would walk that far (it wasn’t really all that far a hike). We politely turned back and fished back up stream. Another day I went down to a bridge south of Alder, there was a public access point there with a porta-potty, etc. The road went west off of Ruby river rd., had a 90 degree turn to the left and then crossed the river. We had to crawl thru some barbed wire that was illegally attached to the bridge. A couple trucks would see us in the river and stop near us in what I assumed to be a weak attempt at intimidation. We just ignored them. We went back to the Ruby on a later trip and it looked like that access area was no longer there. I don’t remember the name of it. Just a little ways upstream was a nice new house built right on the river which I was wondering if it belonged to one of the infamous guys that think they own the river. I had a friend who fished just below the dam who said some guy carrying a shotgun walked the bank the whole time they were fishing. I just read today an article printed in Bozeman Outside by John Holt who pulls no punches about the stream access attacks by the wealthy litigants. We all need to stay vigilant and not be intimidated to give up our rights.

Funny that posting the photo of the big striper was ok for the board owner but not the article. I viewed the post as a way to generate interest and comment. One of the few subjects that would produce more good natured trash talking than whose college had the best fly fishing would be one on SEC football. By the way, Go Gators.

These are all replacement LED side marker lights. Depends on whether you need ones that mount with single stud or two screws or surface mount. I’ve always had good experiences dealing with Jamestown.

Both are good advice. Here are some random thoughts: I’m not sure what you mean by side turn signals. Are you talking about side marker lights that stay on same time as the tail lights? Does your trailer not use the brake lights as turn signals? If so they should be LED bulbs also if it is an LED set. When I replaced my old boat trailer lights with LEDs they were all LEDs if I remember right. I’m surprised at the problem since you don’t dunk it in saltwater. Bad ground is certainly the most common problem with trailer lights but I would think it would just cause them not to work, not burn them out right away. Do you have to back them into the water to launch? Do you see the broken filament in the bulb? Do they blow just riding on the road or just after dunking in the water? If they are incandescent bulbs you may be able to find LED bulbs that fit that particular socket.

I use goop on Puglisi style or deer hair flies. Here is what the burning tool looks like that I use. I use these in ophthalmic surgery or anywhere that the big cautery units would cause too much damage. If anyone has trouble finding such a cautery, I could probably help.
