Out of curisoity, what were your respective apertures on the pictures above? Are wide angle 2.8 lenses different from other lenses in that they still give a large depth of field at 2.8? Otherwise, it would seem that a wide angle at 2.8 would not be very useful for landscapes where you want everything in view to be in sharp focus?

f/3.3 – 1/800 with 105VR ISO 100

F/2.8 -1/250 with VR105 ISO 100

F/2.8 -1/800: 12-24 AF-S ISO100

F/1.4, 1/3200 – 50mm F/1.4
