    Hey guys –

I don’t have a price quote yet but I don’t think these are going to be super expensive.

In the September 2006 issue of Fly Fish America they featured a lot of the 2007 gear and show the Cloudveil Crystal Creek Wading Pants to be priced at $365.

$365.00! Whoa… that is pretty dear! They best be made by my American neighbors or have one heck of a warranty for me to pay that much!

In Jan. my Hodgeman Guide-Lites will be four years old. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

My Wadelite Hodgmans are going on two years old and I love them.

Guys I have a pair of the Simms waist highs and love them, they have the heavy waist and double velcro

Okieff…I was doing the math as well…and even if your Hodgman waders last only two seasons…you’re looking at waders for the next 15 years or so for the same price as one pair of Simms G4’s…and it would be hard for me to believe that the Simms G4’s would last over a decade and a half.

Now, we weren’t supposed to take pictures at the FTR Show, but apparently some people did anyway.

During my time in Yellowstone, I threw #2 Zuddlers, Zonkers, and Woolies, #12 Madam Xs, #6 Chernobyl and Club Sandwich hoppers, and #4 Salmonflies, all on the G2 and changing only the leader array.  I only switched to the Winston LTX 9′ #5 for this one pool on the Yellowstone when I knew I’d be tangling with some big fish (and we caught a chubby 20″er.)

    Zach:

Help me understand your switch to the LTX for bigger fish. Doesn’t the G2 have the backbone for fighting/lifting larger trout? I would have thought it would be perfect. Especially when you consider all the large weighty flies you were throwing with your G2. Why would the LTX be better for beefier trout? I’m seriously considering getting a G2 identical to yours for the San Juan, Henry’s Fork, Madison, etc. I hope to stick some serious trout on those rivers and would think the G@ would be perfect at protecting fine tippets while playing 20″+ fish. Enlightenment requested please.

    Hey Salmo –

The G2 does have enough backbone for most streamer fishing, but for instance on Slough Creek I was only throwing it an average of 40 feet at the most.

Hey Zach! I looked all over TFO’s website for the 11′ 5wt rod you were talking about and couldn’t find it. Any thoughts as to where it might be?

Man, those guys at Simms are losing it!….

That wader looks ugly… Whats all this with orange and black patches etc.
And why would anybody buy a wader for $700? You can buy a nice wader for $200-300, use it hard for 3-5 years and get a new one when its era is over for another $300. Surely you’ll still get the latest techonolgy built-in by then.
A tip: get the Patagonia Lightweight Waders at Madison River Fishing Company for $150 and it will serve you for MANY years to come.

Their orange vest looks hideous! The vest they make these days are way far from the original vests. I still have an older Tippet Tender vest. These vests were made in Wyoming BTW.
