I’m looking for a new reel for my G2 (884/5wt).

All of the reels you mentioned will work great. I mean are there ANY bad reels these days? It comes down to how much are you willing to pay and what is your personal esthetic preference?

Rod is dark grey so any dark grey would look great. But so will a ‘weird’ color reel.

I’d like to see one of the NEW Velocities on a G2.

How about a Classic reel like the original dark grey Orvis CFO III?

The San Miguel rocks though I waited until the San Miguel XiII+ came out… the Vision.

The Vision is definitly nice as well but there is still something about the solid back on the original San Miguel that really gives me the love for it.

Carter, the solid back is exactly why I waited for Ross to redo the San Miguel. One glance at it and I knew porting was inevitable.
I like the porting for weight reduction (though admittedly, not as much weight was removed as I expected) and it aids in drying out backing.
I think if Ross came out with a limited run of either the Vision or San Miguel they would have an instant hit on their hands. Ya think?

Definitly, look at how much they go for on ebay whenever they pop up.

Dunfly, before you do that check out the new limited edition model that was brought out at the Denver show, Zach is right it looks awesome and its got a harder finish.

It lists for $395 but most retailers allready have them on clearance for some reason.

    Look, $250:

Walt from EZFlyfish, apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to sell it to me for $299, which is a good deal, but I like looks of the older model better and will probably go with it for $237.

The only other reel I know of that used Type III (hard) anodizing is Charlton. Type III, aside from being nearly .002″ thick (Type II = .0005″) also penetrates right into the surface.
I’m impressed that another company decided to go that way other than the usual ‘top-of-the-line’ subjects.
It wasn’t long ago you knew that if an item was anything but black it wasn’t hard anodized. I ain’t for sure that has changed.
