Directions are easy with a map, but all roads into our town are two lane at some point.
Just be extra careful and wait for the passing zones, car wrecks are just about the only dangerous thing in Mtn. Home, we have very low crime here. Many people here never lock their car when in town, and some still even leave the keys in it. (I don’t, but I didn’t grow up here.)
I suppose since I said that I should also mention that the 4th is a busy weekend, with lots of tourists, so you probably DO want to lock your stuff up.
Steve Dally is the best known float – fishing guide in Cotter, although he is actually from Tasmania. He is a really nice guy, just bought a large fly shop in Cotter. He has one of our most popular blogs in the area – http://ozarkflyfisherjournal.wordpress.com/2011/05/14/welcome-to-dallys-ozark-fly-fisher/
Another very popular place is The White River Inn, it is upscale, so pricey. Moose owns it, his blog is here – http://blog.thewhiteriverinn.com/
I have met both these men personally, and they are both really nice guys. I don’t fish, so they weren’t trying to “sell me” anything, just nice people to know.
Try to reserve ahead of time if you need a guide, the dam to Cotter will be packed that weekend. The guys around here call it the aluminium hatch.
Hope you enjoy your stay! We are proud of Mountain Home and our Twin Lakes Area.
