MemberOnce again I have really enjoyed meeting up some IA people. Its a great community of anglers and genuinely nice people on the board here. Tim it was great to meetup again for a few more days. Eric, Was great to meet you and do some fishing!
The last couple of weeks kind of melted into one long fishing trip with a couple of days at work mixed in.. So, I just wanted to merge them all into one, pic heavy, post… Even though there were 3 distinct portions to the trip for me.
#1 Lake X … I had spoke with Tim over the last month or so about Goldens in MT .. After a semi-strike out (got lots of beautiful brookies) at a lake earlier in the summer, Tim made the hugely generous offer to show me Lake X. He didn’t have to ask twice. Thanks Tim!
Man .. I tell ya .. These fish were a bit selective. Look, turn away, look turn away … Sometimes as many as 4 times before before deciding to eat, or not eat (most of the time).
Tim’s mom makes good trail mix!

A beautiful view after a long hike!

Tim always seemed to be perched on a rock.

Just cruisin’

Rewarded with some MT gold!

#2 The Park and the Maddy
Fly fishing only

Eric on the Madison in the Park

A food shot of the food shot!

exchanging notes

whats a YNP visit without a buffalo?

a friend with a net … especially, on the maddy!

#3 – Back up to SW MT for a couple floats with my dad. Its a special thing to be able to share some days on the water with your father and these were no exception!
Ready to roll

Our guide on the Beaverhead, Brad

Temps in the 80s means its almost October and we’re throwin hoppers.

and gettin’ eats

Brad settin’ up with my Dad

Float #2 – Can you tell we’re in Twin Bridges???

Our guide on the Big Hole, Seth.

Warm weather kept the fall color on the Big Hole away … guess I’ll have to go back in a few weeks 😉Pic of Guide Frank and Client Norm … also flaoting out of the same shop. We had lunch with them. Norm sees my camera :
Is that a slr? … Yes
Do does it have auto-focus? … Yes
Do you like it (AF)? … Yes
I invented autofocus.pretty cool …

When we started the float .. Seth mentioned something about there being some fish he wanted to take some pics of …

MemberThanks for the compliments on the pics!
Mike: Seth was a way cool guy and a great guide. He’s mainly with Four Rivers now.
Eric: We just covered a lot more water in the boats and the temps cooperated for a little end-of-the-season hopper action. Although, my pop did catch a real nice 18″ rainbow over @ Bakers Hole the first day we were up there. I agree with you about the photos .. Its always cool to see another persons photo perspective of the same trip!

MemberThose 2 shots of me and tim, on the firehole and the madison, were those the 100 macro?
Sep 29, 2009 at 4:29 pm #39433Corey Kruitbosch
MemberEric: The Madison shot was with my 50/1.4 .. and the firehole was with the 100-400.

MemberThanks guys!
Adam: Yeah, the Bighole did still have plenty of water and they didnt close it this year. Seth had to get out and walk the boat once or twice, but that was it. Was a great float .. That really is one of my all time favorite rivers. I look forward to fishing it every fall.

MemberYou always bring us the killer pics, Cor! Glad the goldens worked out this time. too! 😎
Was wondering where you’d been lately. Glad to see it was time spent with the fishes.
BTW, a buddy just returned from Utah and had some great brook trout fishing. Already talking about going back. Fantasy fish for me. 🙂
