The Itinerant AnglerIs that over in Slovenia, Mike? I have never had it satisfactorily explained why the water there has a greenish-white tinge. It looks very similar to pictures I’ve seen of New Zealand.

Here is some information about karst topography. Basically, the color is caused by water flowing over soluble rocks, both limestone and dolomite in Slovenia’s case. The rock is dissolved by the water which gives it that milky appearance. The dissolved rock, as well as a stream bed composed of that same type of rock, is what gives the water its emerald color.
