Looking good Peter. Please tell me that’s not an LSU Toad though. 🙂

Nah no LSU, but the purple chartrues is a good pattern to get their attention. We call it the Fat Tuesday Toad. The real trick with the fly is to do a lead wire wrap on the hook shank. This gets it down to where it needs to be but makes it swim more like a fleeing blue crab.

    Zach,

Exactly what I thought when I saw it (with the opposite emotional feeling of course) but then realized its a Mardis Gras thang. Although in Mobile it might be more of a Joe Cain thing.

True story, true story. I’m not big on the whole scene but the redfish are. I think it is the sort of pattern where they take the fly out of curiosity.

Purple and tan… Just trust me on this. All the time, every time.

I took the Ol’ redfish slider and added palmers chenille to the palmered hackle. I really liked the result.
