    Hey guys,

I just wanted to start a thread for the white bass flies that you will be using this year.

If they are starting their spawning run and you can find a good school of them, I will usually throw my triple to them:

Kent’s stealth bomber, bonefish gotcha (bonefish flies make awesome white bass flies), and the bottom fly is just some bucktail with a little flash over the top.

Where are you doing your white bass fishing?

When it’s “on” a bunch of flash wrapped on a hook works as well as anything. I usually start off with a small chartreuse and white or gray and white clouser. It’s hard to beat a clouser.

Mike Mclellan’s Jiggies are the coolest white Bass flies going
    Order the firetiger and chart/white

They don’t have pics on their website unfortunately (http://www.mcflyshop.com) but NW Arkansas has monster white bass, up to 4lb hybrids and stripers in a spring run
Hybrid below taken on my Dame fly

A beat up Jiggy in the corner of the mouth

Lots of fun I must make a run back over this spring.

    Cheers

Spring run whites make some of my favorite fishing.  I’m not much of a tier and I stick primarily with clousers–chartruese/white, gray/white, and olive/white.  On my local spots the whites won’t go for a month I think, even with warm temps.  But the crappy are starting to move into the creek mouths, I hear.  Crappie aren’t the toughest fighters, but they are about the only fish I eat consistently (maybe 10-12 each year).  I usually have more variety in my crappie flies, since they have a rep for being so color sensitive and because the slooow retrieve they like works better with marabou and other fine materials.
