I’m after an all-round rod for dry flies, nymphs & small streamers. I have the Winston LT5 8’3″ 4wt but it is just a little short for the high banks and river flows of my usual spot. I also have a T&T H2 9′ 5wt and Sage XP 5wt but they lack the feel I am after. Not sure if I’m looking for a lighter 5wt or heavier 4wt – hope that makes sense.

Have you cast the Winston Boron IIx yet in the 9ft 5wt. I too fish a sage xp but after casting the winston I decided to build one of these rods. Give it a try. I think you will be surprised.

I’ll second Moosedog’s suggestion on the Boron IIx, only I’d suggest you also try it in a 9″ 4 wt since you already have two 5 weights.

If possible try to cast the Scott G2 side by side with the Winston BIIx.
I’m pretty curious what your idea will be afterwards!
