I am wanting to go red fishing down in the gulf. When is the best time of year to go? Can anyone suggest some good guides in Louisiana? I am not looking for fly fishing guides. My wife or another friend might be going and they will not fly fish. Thanks

Fall and winter is best for the bull reds. Maybe October thru March. The rest of the year is good for the smaller fish. The winter weather can be tough or can be great. Any of the guys that guide out of the “Woodland Plantation” are great. They fly fish but I think they would do a fly/conventional trip.
The guides are Kirby LeCour, Rich Waldner, Bryan Carter, Alec ? and others. The Uptown Angler could help you out. I have taken a trip down there with “Tailwaters Fly Fishing” out of Dallas. They have it down.
