It depends on the product, man.

After poor experiences with SA and Wonderline, I only fish Rio lines.

Zip cast. Use it often and you’ll be pleased.

I have a process for cleaning my line. I use dreft detergent in a bucket, strip off the line and wash it off. Then I put the line in a bucket of fresh water and rinse off the soap. Then I dry the line and apply Glide.

Finally, I take a rag and wipe the glide off.

Essentially the line dressing is like car wax. You need to buff it off. I’ve also heard of people who didn’t buff off the line dressing and it put a groove in one of the stripping guides.

It takes a while to do thus, but I’ve had good success with it.

Didn’t you say in another post Lando that you love yourself and you are not a cheap ass? Buy a new line. I am sure with all of your connections you can get them for a descent price.

    Joel,

Are you offering to send me some new line, or do I have to wait to get some?

I use the Rio line cleaner on my Rio lines, The SA line cleaner and pad on my SA lines, and Glide on my other lines.

I clean my fly lines after every use.
