Those are cool, Mike. What are the ones on top called? Looks like that would be a great lead fly in a double-nymph rig with a tiny midge larvae trailing it. I bet it SINKS.
Also the photos are good man. All you really need is a neutral background – try a piece of clean craft felt or posterboard.
Thanks Zach, the top flies are just a variation of a ‘Simon’s Ugly’… 2x 3.5mm tungsten beads locked in with 4-5 turns of 0.25 lead and wire body. Great fly to get down deep quick with a smaller natural fly for a tail works great, gets eaten a lot on it’s own too!
The photo’s were just on the tying desk, a last minute thought… I will play with a neutral back ground next time. I was just reading the post about shooting studio stuff and making it float… so much to learn and try!
Had trouble getting the site to load for a while… I have been playing with UV clear as seen on the back of some of these bombs…
Playing with a whitebait pattern… didn’t get to use it this last weekend as a big slip has closed the road to the coast.
A mate took a few the week earlier and got a couple of sea runners…
