    Hey guys –

I am woefully unknowledgeable about tripods.

    Zach,

I too still have my original Bogan 3021 legs (20 years old now) and I can’t seem to part with them. I’ve replaced the leg locks twice but that’s it.

The tripod is the most important tool besides the camera, so I usually don’t compromise unless it’s a long multi-day backpacking trip.

The combo I use 90 percent of the time is a Gitzo 1325 set of legs and Kirk BH1 ball head. Whenever possible, this is what I am carrying.

For backpacking, its a Manfrotto 3444D set of legs (carbon fiber, 4 section) with the center post cut off and a manfrotto Proball 308 with a modified arca swiss QR attachment. I am not even sure they make those legs anymore, but it is a great backpacking tripod.

    Zach,

I’ve been pleased with my Feisol legs. I have owned them for two years now…and no complaints. They’ve just released a CF model that is listed as 1.98 lbs.
