With all the photos of the fish floating around, I thought I would share a few too.

Two weeks ago, Craig Peterson and I headed down to the North Fork of the White River for the maiden voyage of my new drift boat (I traded in my Hyde highside (yes the $800 drift boat), for a Hyde LowPro XL).  The trip was one of those trips you don’t think you are going to have it, until you do.  Below are a few photos.  We threw streamers the entire trip when fishing from the boat, and nymph rigs when we got out and wade fished.

Craig Peterson with a nice North Fork of the White River brown trout.  This was the first fish, caught on the first cast, of the first drift with my new boat.  Not a bad way to start off the maiden voyage of the new boat.

The heads on the NFOW fish are pretty impressive.

A look at the layout of the new boat, as we stopped to wade on our float.

We nymphed a bit, when we got out and wade fished.

Craig with his biggest brown trout to date, this was caught within site of the take-out on a last cast.  Yes the fish gods were smiling upon him.

    All fish caught were released.

I got in on the action on Sunday morning, with my first fish out of the new boat.

All in all it was a great trip.  We floated solo on Saturday, and Brian joined us on Sunday for a quick float.  Lots of good times to be had in the future for sure.  Who needs a tailwater……

We were above Norfork Lake and its dam that creates the Norfork tailwater.

I sure remember McClellans myself 🙂 some of my best fishing memories of the past years started when I stepped off the right side of that dock and headed up to the long riffle. Great times I am sure for a lot of people!
Nice fish too Matt, and thanks for sharing the photos , they are awesome too.

That weekend was the best weekend, for big fish, that I had seen yet on the NFOW.

Great big brown trout.  Be glad that pic isn’t in my article in next month’s Fly Fisherman.  🙂  We made the river seem as average as possible hahaha.

We made it look average in the middle of Summer.
