Hey Guys,
Well, I think I can safely report that we figured a thing or two out about that fishery out of Hopedale. Every single day after the storm we got into better and better numbers of fish, and found better and better water for the Gheenoe. Even caught this enormous Alligator Gar. Most of the Reds were between nine and twelve pounds, with a few smaller fish thrown in and also this one giant. Our most effective fly, by far, was a patter originally tied by Atlanta’s own Gary Merriman called the Tarpon Toad. We fished these both orange and purple, and with a few exceptions sighted Reds ate them like candy. Poppers were basically a no go. Not sure why, but we never did get a fish to eat a popper. Spoons worked, although not as well as the Tarpon Toads, and a few fish were caught on smallish crab patterns. All in all, an awesome time.
