With needing to flex a day off work, “Ice” and I took a day off and headed up to North Carolina for a day of fishing.

When driving almost three hours to find trout water…you have to get up and out the door pretty darn early.

A decent brown that fell for a tiny black midge.

    K-9 “Ice” seemingly unimpressed…

A brown trout caught on brown glass. What could be better?

He really was happy to be there…just containing his excitement.

I decided to go “old school” during the morning session with the Heddon Pal Pro Weight #8381 and…

a little three inch Pridex…lined with 5DT Cortland Sylk.

We were back to the Element for lunch. Pimento cheese on wheat sandwich, spicy chicken chowder soup, and a Coke to wash it all down.

WHEW…getting up at 0400 and wading all morning is TOUGH!

I fished the yellow Fenwick all afternoon and picked up a few more fish. I found that the Fenwick might have a to soft of a tip for serious nymph fishing…but still a pleasure of a rod to use on the water.

Nice to steal away for the day with pup and the Element loaded with rods and reels. Let the fall fishing begin!

Cameron that is a great post! Love to see that K-9 “Ice” is becoming a fishing buddy! Any chance of you getting him up here to Montana so he can teach Riley some fishing etiquette?

The fall fishing here is really starting to heat up! I have found a few new holes that have been out of this world good for me this past week. I have hooked several browns this week that will dance across the water from one side of the river to the other! And if that doesn’t put a smile on a guys face nothing will!!

Nice job Cameron! The last one is my favorite.

Ice was probably bored because you left his tennis ball at home!

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

    Cameron,

You are still a little “yankeefied”. If you want to impress your in-laws…….refer to it as a perminner cheese sammich!

    Drifter…now that is funny.
