That shot was taken at Noontootla Creek in North Georgia.

The fiber optic effects on the flies are cool as hell…how in the hell do you do that? I was thinking that maybe you were using glow in the dark materials, then I noticed that the leader in one pic is also glowing.

Holy smokes that’s my river.  Great shot of the Toot.  While rare in the creek itself, brookies are fairly common in a couple of the tribs.  There is a drive up approach to section below the washout as well.  It is indeed an extremely remarkable fishery for GA.  For a combo of beauty/ruggedness/quality wild trout in GA, only the upper Chattooga near the NC border makes me happier.  Thanks for the great shot.

    Great shot.

I’m assuming Noontootla is an Indian name…anyone know what tribe, and what it means?

    I think its Cherokee.

Thus, Noontootla Creek has the southernmost population of brook trout in the world.

There are brook trout in Patagonia.

According to Nick Karas’ book, the Falkland Islands has the southern most brookies–put there in World War II by British officers who missed their trout fishing.

I never hear that book mentioned on the boards eye2fish…but the Nick Karas book “Brook Trout” is a great read with a LOT of information on this great fish.

And maybe Zach meant…the southernmost NATIVE population of brook trout.

I did exclude stockers from that comment.
