    Hey guys –

    Anyone familiar with the Curtis Switch to Horseshoe Bend float on the Toccoa? I understand it’s about 8 hours — is there also a trestle bridge in that section? I’ve run the upper section (Dam to Curtis Switch) many times, usually in a raft or pontoon boat, but launching my hard boat is an issue, especially with my low freeboard in the skiff and the steep angle I’d need to drop in from Tammen Park. I understand they no longer allow launching off the rip rap at the foot of the dam, even if I were to make a PVC ladder to get over the rocks without mauling my boat.

    So the lower float it will be, but I’m just curious what’s down there.

    There is not a bridge in the lower float. Eight hours is about right when fishing and be prepared to get your feet wet on the first couple of trips. There are 5 or 6 fish traps in that section and even knowing the water, if the flows are low, you may need to walk the boat through one.
