Chad SimcoxMemberThis past week I became a victim of the recession when the studio I work for laid off nearly everyone in the company. Instead of getting down, I’m looking at the situation in a positive light. So I’ll actually have some time to throw some flies and work on some personal projects.
I’ve slowly been working on a personal project shooting flies in a still life style as opposed to the typical fly in the vise. Unfortunately I’m a bit sloppy when it comes to fly tying so I’ve got to start tracking down some quality tiers to work on this project with. Does anyone have any suggestions on tiers to contact. I’m hoping to shoot 100 unique fly patterns from various tiers. I most interested in local patterns that emulate the same insect yet differ so greatly from region to region.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

MemberSorry to hear about your layoff Chad, but glad to hear you are being positive and using this time for yourself to enjoy it, while you have it.

MemberThrow out a call in the tying forum. You might get some responses. Even if you can’t use them all you’ll get some to fill the box. 🙂

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Ben CochranMemberYes Chad, sorry to hear about the little bump in the road. I firmly believe in fate and divine intervention, perhaps the road that you are suppose to travel will present itself now. I certainly do hope the best for you. 🙂

MemberChad, try talking to Dean Endress at the Fisherman’s Spot on Van Nuys Blvd. He’s the manager there and a fly designer for Solitude Fly Company.

Chad SimcoxMemberLee, if I weren’t already traveling out of the country for a month in April I’d probably take you up on that offer. I’ve always wanted to get in on the lake run action up in your neck of the woods.
Darrin, Thanks for the suggestion. I need to stop in and talk to Dean about the project. I photographed his Robo Pheasant Tail pattern as an spec shot last year when I first started thinking about making this an ongoing project.
Will I sent you an email and Phil you’ll probably have one sitting in your inbox by the time you see this.
