The Itinerant Angler Podcast Episode #2

Hey guys –

All right, the podcast is starting to get a little meat on its bones.  We’ve got board member and middle Tennessee guide Mike Anderson on this week’s show; Mike shares a lot of good tips on his streamer fishing tactics for big brown trout on some overlooked water.  I hope you’ll take a listen.

We’re also debuting a new segment this week, the Angler’s Audiolog.  Basically this is going to be me and whoever happens to be along narrating some fishing trips.  My first outing was with Caesar “The Lumbering Beast” Stair and we had a good time nearly getting blown off the water.  I have only seen wind blow harder on the water on one or two occasions.

Don’t forget you can now subscribe to the podcast through the Apple iTunes Music store and have it automatically download to your computer when each new episode is released.  Log on to the Music Store within iTunes (Google up the free program if you don’t already have it) then search for either my name or The Itinerant Angler.

Zach I hope you did some serious editing on that thing. ;D
I was fun to do but I never feel like I get anything accomplished with these things. Radio is the same way. I think a real good idea that was mentioned by another poster, would be an on the water interview. You might have to edit a few cuss words but all in all you should get some better info that way.

Two subjects I would like to see in upcoming podcasts…..

1. Maybe do a podcast on the Park and highlight some places to see/avoid when in the Smokies.
2. Do a review of a river…any river. I know focusing on TN tailwaters would regionalize things, but you could do rivers across the country. Talk about hatches, special points of interest, places to visit nearby, hairy whitewater sections if present, generation/flow scheduling and it’s effect, and general things about the river.

Just some ideas….FWIW.

Zach I listened to the podcast and thought it was really good. I’ve tried the jerk strip on the Hiwassee using a uniform sink line and Kelly Galoup’s Zoo Cougar and White Zonkers with some good results while wading. The technique seems to get the attention of larger fish. Your guest next week, John Wilson was he on OLN over the weekend?
