Anybody planning a trip to Charlotte for the fly fishing/rod building show this year? Feb 26, 27, I think.

This will be the third year in a row that I made solid plans to attend and then other conflicts have gotten in the way…so maybe next year.

Went to the one in Atlanta last weekend. It was basically the same as last year. I usually get enough out of it to warrant attending…but barely. I enjoy looking at the boats and canoes/kayaks/pontoons. I am planning on buying a Scadden poontoon and they had one at the show. The fly tying is pretty cool and I usually learn a new pattern or two. They have a guy that makes a frog out of a foam hair curler. It’s probably the best frog imitation I have seen. Floats just like one because of the inserted weights. I am planning on tying some and will take some pictures. Be sure to check it out, his name is Craig Reindeau I believe.

This will be my fourth Charlotte show. I got my FFF CCI certificate there last year and this year signed up for Rajeff’s distance and accuracy class. I can’t hardly wait! ;D

The tiers alone are almost worth the price of admission, as are the free seminars. If he does it, you just have to watch Simon Gawesworth wade the casting lane tossing neat single spey casts in all directions and distances!

This sisn’t just a fly fishing show… it includes the countries largest rod BUILDERS show all on the same admission fee.
