Sounds like the punch line to a bad joke, but I passed over these two rivers in my travels to and from Florida this year both looked like great rivers to take the raft and the Nucanoe down. Any suggestions on which sections to float would be appreciated along with a reasonable place to stay or camp.

On the way south I avoided Atlanta on that holiday weekend and took 40/26 instead I must have crossed the French Broad 4 different times, and then coming home you cross the Clinch on 75.

Where you cross the Clinch on 75 is actually right on the trout stream section.  The dam is upriver to your right from there (going north).

Really, the annual nonresident license price is pretty stiff, but if you’re just passing through, the one-day nonresident license including trout isn’t too bad at $16.00, nor is the 3-day nonresident license at $33.50.

Hey Guys, it’s getting to be that $70 is the standard rate for annual non-resident licenses. I now spend more on licenses every year than gear!

The Upper Fr Broad around Asheville is a gnarly, brushy banked musky river.
