is a hellgrammite that I came up with and used with very good results over the weekend and so instead of posting fish porn I thought I would post a tutorial. This way you cool cats can pull some slack and post some too. 😉

Here it goes:
I started with a Mustad size 2 hook, but size 4 is money too.

Then I like to give the shank a full wrap.

Next I tie on my medium barbell eyes, I use medium for both sizes

Then I tie on a bit of masons to help keep the tail from wrapping and then trim it off.

After that I tie on a magnum zonker strip in olive

Next I trim it for a more stream lined look and to make it easier to cast.

Afterwards I tie on some olive sculpin chenille.

Next I tie on a barred saddle hackle, tip first so that it flares more as it works toward the eyes.

I then palmer them on, chenille then hackle, with a couple extra wraps right by the eyes.

Next I tie on some sili legs, and I like to make this contrast a bit with the rest of the body.

Then I trim then up a bit.

Finally I tie on weed guard and then clean it up and glue it off.

Then I just add water:

no its thirty pound hard nylon. I tie the loop to the shank right in front of the eye and then make loops with thread under the nylon to make it stand up. It us the most dependable design I have come up with yet.
