Peter E.MemberI am looking to buy an new six weight and I have been looking at the TiCr, I have cast the TiCrX and the Axiom but I am leaving towards the TiCr.
Also, if anyone has tried the Scientific Angler XPS line, I am looking to put that on a Lamson Konic for this new rod so thoughts on those would be appreciated as well.
Does anyone own one or have any experience with this rod, reel, or line? I would really like to hear some thoughts on the products.
Thanks,

Tim AngeliMemberKonic is great. Awesome reel, awesome drag, and most important, it’s cheap as.

Steve K.MemberI have the Axiom 6 weight and use it exclusively for chucking big streamers. My line of thought was to get a relatively inexpensive

MemberI own this specific rod, and love it. I have not had a chance to fish it yet but I like the way it casts. I owned a 9wt version of it, before I upgraded to a Helios, and loved that one too.
I think it will be great for a light salt water and striper rod, for me.
I have a Loop Evotec G3 on mine loaded with Sharkskin.Mar 12, 2010 at 5:38 pm #42337
Peter E.MemberThanks for the heads up fellas, I appreciate it.
Keith and Tim, I appreciate the first hand experience. Keith, have you ever had that shark sin burn your hands when a fish goes on a run?

MemberMy experience with the TiCr and TiCrX rods has been that they seem to like the “+1/2” size lines such as the SA GPX, Rio Grand or (even better for streamer fishing) the Rio Clouser.

The Itinerant AnglerI agree wholeheartedly with the Clouser recommendation. I also agree that technically speaking the rods are probably classed a size heavy for what they can handle.
I have a 7 and an 8 weight TiCr. My 8 is built with Sage hardware and is very nice looking (would have been nicer if the damn cat hadn’t knocked it off the epoxy drier and forced me to re-do the last coat).
These are stiff rods. They really don’t hit their sweet spots until you get out into the 60-80′ cast range, or use overlined shooting heads. For in-close work, I would typically prefer my Scott Heliply, which is very flexible for a saltwater rod. But for sheer distance casting and driving tacks into the wind, I agree the TiCr + Rio Clouser is an excellent combination.
Oh and re: Sharkskin–great product but be careful.

Peter E.MemberThanks guys I appreciate it, does that rod roll cast well? Or would a slower rod do better in that? I have always used my old fiber glass rod for when I would be doing in close work and lots of roll casts.
