This fall was the complete opposite of last year, when the Bitterroot was choked with smoke from the wildfires. The fires drove us north, up to Kootenai country where we could finally catch a breath. This year was cold and rainy…perfect weather for this summer weary N Floridian. Perfect for trout fishing. Perfect weather for waxed hats and fleece. Perfect for spending the evenings drinking our alotted four beers at the Blacksmith brewery until last call at eight pm (what strange laws they have here). My good friend is a guide in the valley and he gratiously spent an afternoon with me, freezing to death on small water, him tossing green line and me tossing black. We had a good time.
    I love Montana in September.
