’97 Toyota Land Cruiser ?
Last year with a solid front axle for any Toyota in the US, coil suspension, locking differentials available, take out as many seats as needed to carry gear and make room to sleep.
They are old enough to be not too expensive but still can find some with great life left in them (soccer mom wagons), 4+liter straight six has pretty good torque but not so good mileage or acceleration. Lots of room in the wheel wells for oversize tires. Cross country expedition comfort.
With a 2 1/2″ lift, 33″ tires, aftermarket front and rear bumpers and locking center, front, and rear diffs I ran the entire Hole in the Rock trail last year. No drama and only an occasional rear bumper dragging.
