I’ve been trying for a couple of years to catch Georgia river stripers on the fly.  I finally succeeded on Sunday.  I got several nice fish, two in the 10+ lb category.  It was fun.

This eastern king snake swam right across the river to me.

    where were you fishing?
I have had one experience with stripers in a river here in GA, and I would like more!
Not so sure about the encounter with the snake though 😮

    Great work!
I’ve got striper fever bad…and with our east TN lake levels nearing full pool, I’ve got some runs scoped out where, hopefully, wher I’ll catch a few as they swim up into the rivers.

What flies were you throwing?….fast sink line?

TWiles, all the fish came on klouser minnows–gray/white and a few on olive/white.

The stripers should be running up the Saluda River soon here…and I need to go and chase them.

    Gary,

Are these stripers coming up river from the ocean, or are they land-locked fish?

Andrew, they are landlocked, running up the rivers on a “spawning” run from large impoundments.
