MemberString licking Perverts – did that get your attention?
Itinerant Angler forum members, we need your feedback for
a new Fly Fishing project.TheFlyFishingDVD.com is a video download site. We are looking to
make our stories available in a format suitable for iPods and
iPhones. We want you to download a sample for free, a fly tying segment
shot with IA members Simon Chu and Peter Morse. So we want you to download it, watch it, gain a valuable fly
for your kit, have a laugh, then tell us what you think of:1. The value of this format
2. The quality of the picture
3. The ease or otherwise of the downloadWhy IA members?
Because you aren’t frightened to give your names, because you
all seem to be computer savvy, because you all love your fly
fishing.OK, here is how to do it…..
1. Click on link, or cut and paste it into your address bar in your browser
http://www.theflyfishingdvd.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=572.Click the รdd to Cart” button.
3. “String Fly iPod Test” is now in your cart, so click on the
“Checkout” button4. If you don’t have an account, click the “Continue” button
and create one. (If you don’t want newsletter updates when we
have new releases, uncheck the subscription button.)5. DON’T ENTER ANY CREDIT CARD DETAILS, just type in the
“Discount Coupon” text area the following code: iPod6. Confirm your order and download it. Watch it and drop us
a line with your feed back, OR post your comments here.Zach, try the download, as it will play on your PC/Mac with
Quicktime or iTunes. You can transfer it later to your new phone.Currently, our downloads are formatted for playback on your PC
or Mac, but with some jigger pokery, you can burn them to DVD
and play them on your home entertainment system – just ask Zach
how.Our plan is to make the iPod versions available at no extra charge
when a customer buys a download. So, with each purchase, you could
potentially end up with 4 files to download with unlimited playback. For example, if the story has a bonus fly tying segment… you would
get the following:1. Full story for PC/Mac
2. Tying segment for PC/Mac
3. Full story for iPod/iPhone
4. Tying segment for iPod/iPhoneThanks for taking the time to download, and in advance for your
valued thoughts and opinions. If you make the download, you will
understand the title of this post.
๐All the best,

MemberThanks for the feedback so far guys, and to IA for the
opportunity to get some.Neal, thanks for your very kind words, and for letting me
know that the synch worked well. We have the right settings
on the format then. From the emails I have got from others (thank you) rather than posting, the reports are good.
The action in the fly tying was at an even pace, I will have to
make another 5 minute clip with some fishing action so you
can give me a report on how easy that is to view. That OK Zach?Simon – going to the Spotlight is now the highlight of my week too.
Strangely, the brown wool has all sold out!๐ฎ

Mark SchaferMemberGreat stuff guys. My 11 year old just whipped up a very passable likeness. I’ve also been known to drink scotch from a coffee mug. ๐

MemberAndrew,
The video was great and I really enjoyed the conversational aspects of it.

MemberMark – 11 year olds know what they are on about, much too clever for their own good – I’ve had one, Got one, and next year I’ll have another! ย ๐
Thanks for your input.Brian – we will take that on board, thanks.
Dear IA members, we really want to say thanks for the
way you have responded and are continuing to do so.Keep an eye out on this Bulletin Board from time to time
for free downloads that Zach will be giving out.Andrew

MemberEasy to download…..loved the fly pattern…..well filmed so even someone with two left hands (like me) could tie this fly…..looks really good and will be trying on local waters soon…..the format of teaching the pattern was good too….loved the easy going banter between the two of you (not just talking heads)…..the helpful tips don’t hurt either…..keep up the great work
Sep 1, 2009 at 12:38 am #38646andrew grabham
MemberMike – Glad you liked it. Peter and Simon had some good times during
the filming, some of it had to hit the cutting room floor though! ๐ฎ
Be warned though…
Some of the tying segments we have are ‘talking heads’, as this
was convenient at the time as Mr Morse had to do it solo.Ryan – it looks as if we will go ahead and make the iPhone format
available with the standard download at no extra cost. It will take a
while but we will then update all the other downloads to contain iPhone. Now I have to battle to get more space on the server. ๐
For those who haven’t downloaded the String Fly sample yet, I will
make it available until the end of September – tell your friends! Thanks IA for the feedback. If you have any more comments.. feel
free. We are sending the boss (John Haenke – camera man & producer)
over your way nexy year for a holiday and a bit of fact finding. So if
you see an Aussie in a FlyFishingDVD T-Shirt ย on your local water,
say “G’Day”.All the best,

MemberGood job Andrew and thanks for your comments guys. Its always great to get feed back both good and bad. Sometimes in this game it feels like you’re working in a vacuum and of course you get to see this stuff so often it becomes over familiar so feed back is GREAT. Glad you liked the informal style, also glad the download works so well. Will have to tie a couple of dozen for NZed this summer.

MemberSimon try a dab of superglue on the red head, it does a great job of preserving colour on the superglue buzzer. ๐
