So, my family, some friends and I were camping along Panther Creek in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Clarkesville, GA. When we woke up one morning and were taking down our tents, we found several of these perched on our tents under our rain flies. Stonefly nymph husks, I presume? I found some light colored stoneflies on nearby trees. Fishing was not on the agenda for this trip. Is it normal for these to climb out and emerge far away (20+ feet) from the river?

Most stoneflies crawl out to emerge.

Those are definitely stonefly husks, and yes, Steven also has it right.
