    Since rainbows are genetically the same as steelhead, I guess it’s not too terribly misleading…

    Now if it were here in SoCal and the menu said “local, wild steelhead” then I’d be making some phone calls to find out why an endangered subspecies were on a menu!

    I found this on a very new, upscale restaurant menu here last year. We asked the waiter if it was a salmon or a steelhead. He said something to the effect of, “Oh no! It’s a wild steehead salmon!” I had the pasta….

    Here is the scenario:

    You are dining with a group of friends and see ‘steelhead salmon’ on the menu.

    I saw that at a restaurant too!
    I can’t recall which but I do remember having fun with the waitress over it.
    Now you got me thinking it must have been a chain restaurant using the same menu as I haven’t been in VA in quite some time.
    C’mon… name names. It’s not like you’re slandering them or anything.
