I shot this scene in both the square format and a pan format and I can’t decide which I like better.
So I was wondering if you could help me decide!
    Thanks!

I keep gravitating toward the square composition.

    I like both compositions.

I keep gravitating toward the square composition.  Both are really good in their own right and very artsy.  I think the rule of thirds is in keeping with the first image, maybe that’s what catches my eye.  Also, the highlights are more preserved in the first.  Very cool stuff Brian.

Thanks Neal, as much as I like the pano, I am thinking that I need to keep with the square format, but I do like to experimenting with all of the other possibilities.

It’s fairly rare that a square format works for me personally. While considering your square representation I kept thinking i’d like to see it in vertical with a traditional aspect ratio. Then when looking at the three frames of the pano I realised the first frame was pretty much what i was thinking Id like to see.

I’m with the square crowd too – and also like the higher contrast version in the pano, so would like to see the square edited that way.

I actually really like the pano version – the only thing that throws me is that it doesn’t align but I know that’s a tough thing to avoid.

Agree with Kendal, it would be cool to see the square edited like the pano.

    Both cool either way.

….didn’t Huey Lewis say it best?

    “It’s hip to be square!”
