    Anyone here own and use a “Spot” If so, which model, price??…I’d love some feedback. After reading some of the stories here….and thinking back on some of the remote backapcking trips I have done…..I think it’s about time to look at this seriously.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Steve…SPOT sent a unit for Mike Carlson and I to use during the Cuttie-Thon event we participated in back in 2008.

    I don’t have one, but with my legs, I can’t get far from the road anyway.

    Bob….wouldn’t this be ideal for your kayaking trips?

    I like the feature where my family can track my movements……we’ll maybe not 🙂

    We bought some for a pisgah national forest backpacking trip, and the spots worked WAY better than the iridium SAT phones we’ve used in the past. The canopy in pisgah is the biggest issue, and the spot did a much better job of piercing through the trees.
