    Hey guys –

I just returned from an afternoon on the river with James Buice, a fellow writer and one of the flyshop dudes at the Fish Hawk in Atlanta.

:)) sounds like you were having fun:))

FWIW- Dana Sturn at Speypages has some great insights into using bottom hand/underhand as applied to long belly line casting, in his subscription section. It’s an an interesting casting stroke when applied to spey

Hey Zach, any chance of swinging down to Atlanta for a spey casting lesson some weekend? I’ve got the cast down where the line breaks the sound barrier with a beautiful whipping sound, but from there I’m stumped.

    Hey Zach,

Being an avid Great Lakes steelheader I have gone over to the way of the Spey in a big way.  During the Fall & Spring Great Lakes steelhead season I am on the water every week.  We also go out to the PNW twice a year.  Our style is underhand, compact.  Our rods are all in the 12’6″ – 13’3″ range.  I visit Atlanta a few times a year, if you want to try some Meiser’s or Winston’s, shooting heads, other lines, I will be happy to bring a few down with me.
