Just a quick note before bed tonight on my first trip down to the river with my new ECHO Dec Hogan 13’3″ two hander.  My intent is to chase striper with it this summer.  I spent four hours yesterday morning learning a long stretch of the river for wading in low light in the coming weeks and working on a few casts that I’m learning.  Amazing how this rod will do the work on it’s own if you let it.

ECHO two hander, Old School Martin MG-10, and a filled up Cliff Outdoors Bugger Barn.  Thinking I need one of those new Cliff Outdoors Justin Cases to fill up and carry in my backpack.

This section of the river is actually the joining of three rivers, the Saluda River and Broad River flow into one river called the Congaree River.

Full fly boxes make me happy.

More flies.  I hope they like chartreuse and white.

These Big Eye Clouser Minnows should get their attention.

Cameron, I did some digging as well and I am pretty sure those eyes are (Montana Fly Company) MFC Sparkle Eyes. They look fantastic!

Try 9:30 – 10pm, under the bridge lights and the fish come alive. (At least they did for top water plugs back in my days of throwing hardware).

Awesome post Cameron. I saw that water a time or two during my 4 years at USC. I am actually headed your way this weekend to watch my younger brother graduate. Keep us posted as to what is happening over there. That area is a serious striper fishery!
