The sluicing below South Holston has been good for fishing. Spent Monday thru Thursday fishing the sulphur hatch there and had a ball. The hatch is not quite what it should be yet though. Saw lots of fish up at times and some really good ones as well. I think the work at the dam is almost done and they will start releasing more water soon. Hope to float it later on.
Not a regular there by any means, but have learned a lot over the past few years. It seem that the higher water, meaning more than the bottomed out level associated with periods of no generation, will bring some of the better fish out. Even if it is not a full generator, the fish aren’t as spooky. As always there, presentation is crucial. The smart brown’s insist on it. Hope you do well when you go.
You will need to check the local fly shops, but they may have repairs finished in a few days.
