Had the fish seen you? I would have tried something very large as my last try. If she won’t eat a nymph then you should try to invoke the predator in her. Those big Browns won’t usually tolerate an intruder in their territory. A big bulky fly that moves a lot of water, stripped fast and erratic might do it. When you come down I’ll show you one of my favorites. I talked to a friend today who fished below Cordell and had on hookup and one miss. The hookup went into the backing and the Striper found something to get tangled in resulting in a broken line and a broken heart. This weekend might be good, I’ll keep you posted. I stayed home all day and wrapped a rod for a friend ???. I may go out tomorrow.

    Zach,

When I think fall and big brown trout I am thinking egg patterns. Maybe this doesn’t apply for resident fish, but it sure does around here for migratory fish that grow big and fat in the big lake and then blast up the streams to spawn in the fall. What are the water temps? Browns won’t go to the gravel until it gets down below 50 degrees. Anywhere near that? If it is I would try an itsy bitsy egg.(I won’t get in to fishing for actively spawning trout and am not suggesting that. Just looking for fish getting in the mood, or having finished and
