Many feel the Beaverkill is the birthplace of fly fishing in America. More angling literature has been written about Junction Pool than any other pool in America and perhaps the world.

So how did the Beaverkill fare in the Irene disaster? I’ve heard some of the tribs, (Willowemock) had a lot of damage by Irene and more so by the excavators with operators who think rivers should resemble ditches.

I’m not sure, but the Beaverkill and Willowemoc looked as good as ever to me.

The Beaver Kill is a beautiful river – and hopefully can stay that way. If you’re a serious fan you should read Ed Van Put’s classic, The Beaverkill, and Francis’ history of the Catskills, Land of Little Rivers.
