I’ve been living in western Montana on an off since 1999, and I’ve watched as salmon and steelhead in the Lochsa, Selway and Clearwater rivers have dwindled and become heavily supported by hatchery programs. The issue of lower Snake River dam removal is a difficult one, but it’s refreshing to see a leader stand up to do what’s right, despite the political risk that might come with such a decision.
