I fished the Smokies with my brother Randy over the weekend. It was a long overdue trout trip and foray into the park. We had a wonderful time, despite Amazonian like rains.

Short on time and future fishing prospects we limited our angling time to the three prongs of the Little River. The Middle and East Prongs suffered the most from Friday’s rain, with the Middle being almost too dangerous to wade. In fact, we began Saturday morning by rescuing an angler who had been swept two miles down stream. He was a little beat up and cold, and lost his rod and reel while we pulled him to shore with an improvised rope, but he was alive.

The fishing was sporadic and varied from location to location. We both brought several fish to hand and missed many more. I managed a little Smokies trout grandslam yesterday–Randy missed it by a brown trout.

I’m attaching a few pictures of fish and bugs, although I’m a little reluctant about the bug shots after seeing Zach’s recent blog additions.

    Splitshot –

Nice Yellow Sallies, and great job saving the guy’s life!  Did you catch his name?  I’d like to interview him (and you) for American Angler.

Phone number I can call you on?

    Zach
