Unlike a bunch of my mates in Arkansas, I’m a heathen when it comes to smallies 🙂 I’d caught them when fishing for other species but really wasn’t all that impressed. But despite all the propoganda I’d been fed I could take them or leave them. Partly it was because I’d never really fished for them specifically.
Even weirder I have a pretty decent smallie streamer (which worked _ pic above). One of my mates, who does a lot of smallie guiding has bought a few over the years.When our Simms Scott and SA rep Eric Kraimer heard this Sunday it was like a red rag to a bull. So we snuck away to hit Crooked Creek. It was probably all the wrong conditions, was was high, too sunny, too much traffic, but even in the “urban” environs of Yellville man it was pretty.
Some stoneflies (looked like a Pteronarcys) and a bunch of March browns coming off.
Floods had obviously devoured some of the banks but the stream itself was gorgeous. Fishing was kinda slow for a while but then we started hitting a few

Definately got me curious about exploring this more.Seen some photos of some really nice 2lb and better smalles taken off Crooked Creek in the past week.

SteveSmallies are a big deal for us up here in Indiana. The shop that I work at focuses on smallies specifically. Right now is prime time up here for them, two days ago I set a personally best with a fish right around 4lbs. and well over 20″.
By the way I love how the Scott rep is fishing a Sage
Hey Zach, heard that too but life’s too short to worry. Just watch where you put your feet.
Besides I grew up with Aussie snakes LOlMichael, Eric and I were obviously wearing the same shirt, he would never fish a sage even if he left all his rods at home and that was the only rod left in my truck, look my name is on the rod. And I always catch the biggest fish …. Trust me  ::)
