We visited my favorite small stream up in the hills of the Mogollon Rim this weekend. Quiet, soulless and perfect. My goal was to attempt a photo essay. Never having done one before, it’s a bit rough. So if this Sucks – I apologize in advance. Sorry. a

Small streams in Arizona are both fragile and remote. This pearl is my favorite on the Rim.

My friend, Bobby & I have spent countless days stalking this particular stream’s wild browns.

A big fish here, only goes 14 inches, an average Brown (pictued above) runs around 8- 10. Despite the size, their beauty and spunk make them a joy to cast a fly to.

Ankle deep in many areas, the water runs cool and clear almost all year around.

A ceiling of Fir, keeps the angler in shade all day and protected from the hot Arizona sun.

I nice Small stream Brown in high country Az. Not a big by anyone’s measures, but wild and free. Untouched by most anglers unwilling or unable to hike into remote locations.

At the foot of the headwaters, Bobby makes one last cast for the day.
