Tried Tying this little guy up last night and it is actually a pretty cool looking fly. I have yet to throw something like this at reds.  In the next few weeks I am going to LA to chase some bruisers in the marsh.  Any good pattern recommendations?  (This being said, I know that the shrimp link above is probably not a good pattern for the marsh but was a good fly to learn)

For redfish, there are several patterns I like.

I like kwans and have tied those along with small toads.

Not elitest at all.  It is relatively simple to tie and very effective if the reds are feeding on baitfish.

    Here are some links:

go to page 6.  This one has the best instructions.

The bend in the hook is about 30 deg.  I use gold or rainbow mylar flash for the underbody and overwrap it with clear Larva Lace.  A lot of people overwrap with heavy mono.
