I had the chance to speak for quite a while with the guys at the SA booth at the show this past weekend in Marlborough MA.

We have a true expert here on the board on these lines, but as I know his hands are tied by his contractual agreements, I’ll not press him.

My experience has been mixed with the Sharkskins.

    What Zach said.

I’ve gotten several of the Sharkskin prototypes to play with, including some sinking heads, but have (unfortunately) been having to work more and fish less of late.

I think the stuff is the real deal.

My question may be a stupid one, but how do the guides (in particular the stripping guides) hold up to the Sharkskin line.

Actually, there is less surface contact because of the nature of the Sharkskin impression on the line.

Most people are quick to conclude that Sharkskin is going to wear down their guides.

I have cast it at a local fly shop and it made me a better caster instantly.  I was flicking 70 feet in seconds of picking it up, the stuff was effortless to cast.  It was almost like I was dry casting a rod.  I cannot wait until the salt water version comes out so I can make those long casts to the spooky bones.  I just hope it cuts through the wind with little effort.  I need all the help I can get making that long haul. 🙂

PS – Have talked to a couple of people that own it and they say they had to turn the drag tighter because the line was shooting out and pulling line off the reel.
PSS – I wonder if they will start sellng Sharkskin accessories, like finger gaurds
