I like the way it casts and the noise doesn’t really bother me.

    Zach and Tim

My comment on lab guys developing products without much professional or end user input comes from another industry where engineers develop most of the products that ultimately end up in full production. (the industry and products would suprise most people)

One point about sharkskin that was made is something I forgot about. The tip is not constantly sinking.

I am a little suprised that someone has not come up with something better than sharkskin.  Surface coating/texturing technology in other industries is fairly advanced.

    The patent runs deep.

We used a sharkskin line in Tasmania at a casting jam a week or so ago and the general complain was how badly it stuck to the blank…… 3 of the guys casting it were FFF MCCI’s and the other 4 were CCI’s so it weren’t the casters. I don’t like the noise, its as simpleas that, especially when you use one with those REC guides, sounds like banshees fighting in a tin shed.

I’m very surprised if anything with a welded loop sinks in the tip because there’s no opportunity for any water to wick up the core. And if it does apply a little dressing.

As for the problems with stripping streamers and sharkskin, I will not have that problem.

As for the problems with stripping streamers and sharkskin, I will not have that problem.  I use a full sink line to strip streamers and just change spools when I decide to go that route.  Usually when I’m streamer fishing, I’m using a totally different rod and setup for that reason only.

It was a glossy blank Zach. It was also under a variety of conditions and over several days.

If my memory serves me well 3M holds more patents than any other US company.
