    I completely agree on the spun deer hair heads, and for the most part stopped tying them that way a long time ago.

    I hadn’t thought of that idea, what I had been considering was a wool head. Any thoughts?

    Wool might work; I’ve never tried it.  But the butts of the hackles work great and move really well.  They hold their profile wide as the head like you want them to, but kind of undulate on the strips too.  Take a look at the photo in my 12/23 post “The Triple-hackle Brookie-hooker” for a visual on what it looks like.
